2013 Mock Draft
1. Kansas City - Luke Joeckel, OT - Andy likes the big boys.
2. Jacksonville - Dion Jordan, DE/OLB - worst pass rush in football looks to improve with best pass rusher in the draft. Will fit Bradley's system like Bruce Irvin last year.
3. Oakland - Sharif Floyd, DT - Oakland needs everything, starting on the middle on defense is a good place to start
4. Philadelphia - Lane Johnson, OT - the more athletic, higher ceiling OT of the three. Kelly makes his bold move with Howie to get athletic up front.
5. Detroit - Eric Fisher, OT - Lions sprint to the podium to take the player they think should go #1 overall. Stafford weeps with joy.
6. Miami - TRADE - Browns trade No. 6 to Miami for No. 12 and No. 77. - Dee Milliner, CB -- With two second round picks, Dolphins ship their 3rd round pick and No. 12 to Browns to get the best CB on the board. Best player available and fills a need.
7. Arizona - Ziggy Ansah, DE/Freak - Arizona needs pass rush, and they gamble on the latest "just like JPP". Would Mingo be a better fit (though a reach at 7)?
8. Buffalo - Jonathan Cooper, OG - best inside player in the draft. One of the best graded OG in the last decade. A perfect match, although I could be convinced to take Nassib here.
9. New York Jets - Tavon Austin, WR - Jets need playmakers, Austin can give defenses lots to worry about.
10. Tennessee - Chance Warmack, OG - classic overreach by the Titans. With Lotulelei, Mingo, and Eifert all on the board, they take a mid- to late-round OG to fill a need. I pulled this one on what I think they will do vs. what they should do.
11. San Diego - DJ Fluker, OT - San Diego reaches, too. Teams that don't have good OL don't get anything done on offense, and SD hopes to squeeze some more wins out of Rivers.
12. Cleveland (from Miami) - Star Lotulelei, DT - a monster for the middle of the Browns defense and a steal at No. 12.
13. New York Jets - Jarvis Jones, LB - As per superscout Ron Hillman "Jones is better than Mingo". Who am I to argue.
14. Carolina - Sheldon Richardson, DT - they improved up the middle last year with Kuechly, now they need to improve in front of him. Only other consideration here is Patterson at WR.
15. New Orleans - Kiki Mingo, LB - Pass rush must be improved, Kiki Mingo gets to stay in the Bayou.
16. St. Louis - Cordarelle Patterson, WR - they need receiving options for Bradford and Patterson has the chance to be a good one. Size alone is great. Good hands. Refine his routes and boom!
17. Pittsburgh - Kenny Vaccaro, S - Steelers go for best player on the board in a position of semi-need. Dallas is unhappy.
18. Dallas - Justin Pugh, OT/OG - with all the top guards and tackles gone, Dallas would love to trade back but I cannot identify a solid place, so they simply take the highest rated O-lineman on their board a little bit higher than where he should go.
19. New York Giants - Bjoern Werner, DE - Good value at corner later on, OL remaining all reaches. Could be another DE (Datone or Tank), but I think they value production from the German destroyer.
20. Chicago - Manti Te'o, ILB - i have nothing to say about this except, take the kid that played 4 years in our backyard.
21. Cincinnati - Alec Ogletree, LB - It's kind of a cliche, but he seems like a Bengal pick (5 cent head)
22. St. Louis - DJ Hayden, CB - he is the sexy pick flying up boards. Personally, I prefer someone like Xavier Rhodes myself, but I'll step out on a limb and take him here.
23. Minnesota - Xavier Rhodes, CB - Slide ends for big CB, run on DBs into round 2 starts?
24. Indianapolis - Desmond Trufant, CB - bing bang boom. I can't see any other CBs going now. Colts get a solid CB and someone I think other teams may have higher rated than No. 24.
25. Minnesota - Tyler Eifert, TE - Need to replace some weapons after losing Harvin.
26. Green Bay - Eddie Lacy, RB - they have lacked a home run hitter for so long. With OL options dwindling, they look to improve the offense. Eddie has very little wear on his tread and makes a perfect addition to Rodgers and company.
27. Houston - DeAndre Hopkins, WR - Hot receiver, also good at trashing hotel rooms if you need that.
28. Denver - Margus Hunt, DE - with no viable CB available at this pick, they look to replace the lost production from Elvis Dumervil. Hunt this late for the Broncos would be a welcome addition.
29. New England - Justin Hunter, WR - Brady can't do it all himself, and Gronk may miss more time than expected. Hunter is a big target with lots of upside.
30. Atlanta - Zach Ertz, TE - devastated they do not land Eifert, they take the next best TE because Tony G. can unretire only so many times. Note: I would not be surprised to see them trade up or down -- up to get Eifert; down to get Ertz.
31. San Francisco - Matt Elam, S - They sniff but don't quite buy the hype on Cyprien, we'll see if he goes next. Elam is a football player.
32. Baltimore - Johnathn Cyprien, S - The Ravens thank the 49ers for passing on the better safety prospect for the one that played at a bigger school.
2. Jacksonville - Dion Jordan, DE/OLB - worst pass rush in football looks to improve with best pass rusher in the draft. Will fit Bradley's system like Bruce Irvin last year.

Monday Night Draft Thoughts
1. Top 10 Picks -- I think trading into the Top 10 will be rare but we may see trades inside the Top 10 if a team really wants to get ahead of someone for a certain player. The 5th year option price on a Top 10 pick is so much bigger than the 5th year option price on 11-32. I think there could be tons of movement between 11-32. I am talking get out your scorecard kids, things are about to get messy.
2. Teams most likely trade: Bills, Eagles, Patriots, Steelers, Giants
3. Teams least likely to trade: Titans, Cardinals, Packers, Bengals
4. Players most likely to be targeted in a trade up: Stephon Gilmore, CB; Fletcher Cox, DT; Matt Kalil, OT (if Minny is stupid enough to pass).
5. Where I am with Eagles -- Brockers or Cox are my leading candidates; Mark Barron comes in behind them; Michael Floyd is my dark horse.

2012 Mock Draft
1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck, QB -- best decision they can make. I love the possibilities RG3 presents, but Luck fits the mold for a Bruce Arians offense. He looks like Peyton, smells like Peyton, and will do his best to imitate Peyton.
2. Washington Dedskins - RG3 -- Damn, NFC East just got real hard
3. Los Angeles Vikings - Morris Clairborne, CB -- with all those passes quizzing past them, the LA Vikes get a stud corner and look to the OL in 2nd round.
4. Cleveland Browns - Kalil the Destroyer - Mike Holmgren stops crying about the Rams being mean to him and takes the best player on the Board, non-QB edition. High likelihood of a trade out, cause they're the Browns.
5. Tampa Bay Bucaneers - Trent Richardson, RB -- because LaGarrette Blount is not an every down back and Richardson rounds out an offense that should play like it did in 2010, not 2011.
6. St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon, WR -- Let's see what Bradford can do with actual NFL receivers.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Stephon Gilmore, CB -- why, because Gene Smith is crazy....like a fox. Gilmore is fast, tackles very well, and has great hands. He fills a need for the team, but also, I think they probably have in rated this high. Of course, if they could trade back 5 picks and take him, they would and perhaps will.
8. Miami Marinos - Ryan Tannehill, QB -- They need a QB, owner wants a splash. Big upside/bust gamble.
9. Carolina Panthers - Fletcher Cox, DT -- taking the best DT in the draft away from the Eagles. He has big time potential and will likely be the highest rated player on their board. They will not touch Poe. Other option would be Melvin Ingram who would also fill a need. (MH Comment - Eagles are very sad after this pick)
10. Buffalo Bills - Riley Reiff, OT -- A bit of a reach, but they need a tackle and can get a good receiver in the second round.
11. Kansas City Chiefs - Dontari Poe, DT -- a shocking pick for Team Pioli, but if motivated to play from Romeo, he could be a beast in their 3-4. All he needs to do is occupy two lineman at a time. He must be able to do that...right?? Alternate pick would be Kuechly.
12. Seattle Seahawks - Luke the Kook, LB -- Pete Carroll is giddy as he hears KCs pick, and skips to the podium.
13. Arizona Cardinals - David DeCastro, OG -- Floyd looks mighty tempting, but their o-line is a mess and the single best offensive line prospect in the draft is there for the taking. He is my cannot miss (unless I get injured) o-line pick.
14. Dallas Cowboys - Melvin Ingram, LB/DE - Bummer as Dallas gets a player they just can't turn down. He'll be a nice bookend for Ware rushing the passer.
15. Philadelphia Eagles - Michael Brockers, DT - highest rated player on my board left. Another shot at finally getting a solid DT. He just barely edges out Mark Barron as the pick.
16 New York Tebows - Courtney Upshaw, Defense - Too much WR depth pushes Floyd and others down. Versatile defender who can pass rush makes sense for Rex.
17. Cincinnati Bengals - Michael Floyd, WR -- add that other threat opposite of Green. Barron is considered but I have Floyd rated higher.
18. San Diego Chargers - Quentin Coples, DE - Boom or bust for a top pass rusher, passing on OL
19. Chicago Bears - Whitney Mercilus, DE - looking to get more boom from the pass rush and they need somone opposite of Julius Peppers. He is a local product and fits the scheme.
20. Tennessee Titans - Chandler Jones, DE - Titans need to revamp interior line, but pass on Glenn to help pass rush with late rising Jones.
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Cordy Glenn, OG -- Bengals continue to build on their offensive side of the ball. They will look to defense and running back likley in the next two rounds.
22. Cleveland Browns - Kendall Wright, WR - Browns give Colt a chance to succeed with some real weapons.
23. Detroit Lions - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB - Lions take all of 5 seconds to submit the card and walk away with the 3rd rated CB in the draft. With Gilmore gone so early at 7, Lions were prepared to look at OL or LB, but actually get a highly rated player on their board who realistically should not be here.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kevin Zeitler, OG - Pitt loves mean lineman, Zeitler is not nice. Passes on a good fit in Hightower.
25. Denver Broncos - Jerel Worthy, DT -- Denver lost Brodrick Bunkley to New Orleans and needs an injection of youth along its interior line. He plays in the backfield, has a nose for the ball and is a solid pick here.
26. Houston Texans - Bobbie Massie OT - Wildcard by Houston to replace Eric Winston. Martin falling, Massie rising.
27. New Engalnd Patriots - Andre Branch, DE/OLB - Patriots need to get better on defense and generate more heat from their pass rush. Branch is a solid fit for Belichik as he can play with hand down and likely as a stand up OLB in the 3-4.
28. Green Bay Packers - Mark Barron S - The slide ends, Packers retool aging/injured secondary.
29. Baltimore Ravens - Dont'a Hightower, ILB - a bit of reach on my board, but in all likelihood, the Ravens may have him higher on their board as he is a schematic fit for them. He gets a year of tutelage under Ray Lewis and then slides inside when Ray is done.
30. Niners - Stephen Hill, WR - Niners go for the high upside potential. Could go OL if they like Adams/Martin/Silatalu.
31. New England Patriots - Jonathan Martin, OT - Patriots need an infusion of youth on the O-line. Maritn may be a project and make only play on the rigth side but he fits on the board.
32. Super Bowl Champion New York Giants - Amini Silatalu, OL - Giants could pick any position other than QB, LB, K/P. They stick with the trenches and gamble on greatness.

Osi - Traded? Say What?
Is Osi going, going, gone? If so, how do you feel about this possibility? According to Mort, the Dolphins, Panthers and Rams are all in the mix. What would it take to make you happy - a 2nd or 3rd round pick? In this draft with the defensive line depth we discussed, if it is a high 3 -- like 1st pick in the 3rd, I would think you would be interested. Yes?

Why Browns - Rams trade makes sense
Both teams are in the market for a QB. The Browns do not, I repeat, do not have any interest in Jimmy C. The Rams on the other hand like Jimmy C. and Colt McCoy. By trading up, the Browns get Bradford, the perfect QB for Holmgren to mold. The Rams have a choice -- take Clausen at 7 or trade down again into the 20s to take McCoy late in the first round. The Rams also pick up valuable extra picks in this draft and can fill a number of holes.
I like this trade. I want it to happen. Thoughts?

Jason Peters and the Eagles - a match made in heaven?
With increasing rumors about the Bills' desire to move LT Jason Peters and their demands for him, a first and third round picks, I started thinking about whether the Eagles would not be best served sending the 28th pick and 121st pick (4th Rd.) for the big OT. Peters played poorly last year in Buffalo, but I believe that can be attributed to not being in shape and being rushed on the field after ending his hold out. In the years prior, Peters played at elite level. With so much cap room, the Eagles could easily workout a new deal with Peters and move forward with Peters and Stacy Andrews as their tackles.
Other teams that might be interested in Peters could include the Lions, Ravens, and Redskins. Each team has a need at the tackle position and could be in position to make such a trade.
